Redistricting

After each U.S. Census, school districts that elect boards by Trustee Area must redistrict (adjust Trustee Area boundaries to equalize population). The Yosemite Community College District is subject to mandatory redistricting pursuant to Education Code 5019.5., by the deadline of March 1, 2022. The Registrar of Voters requires Yosemite Community College District to submit new district lines by the deadline of February 1, 2022. The District is working with the Foundation for California Community Colleges and Redistricting Partners, LLC. to conduct redistricting for Yosemite Community College District Governing Board elections following the 2020 Census.

Redistricting Partners, LLC, presented three draft maps during a public hearing on December 8, 2021, at the Yosemite CCD Regular Board Meeting.  The draft maps were created using traditional redistricting principles and balance for population for the District.  The public is invited to provide comments on the draft maps provided below.

The redistricting process timeline and hearing themes:

The three plans currently under consideration for the redistricting are provided below. The three map options under consideration are referred to as:

Draft Map A – Minimum Change
Draft Map B – Strengthen Latino Majority/Minority Seat
Draft Map C – Minimum Change with two Latino Majority/Minority Seats
