For YCCD staff considering small projects and modernizations, such as new carpet,
large equipment purchases, remodeling, significant furniture changes, or change of
space use, please use the questions below to guide your discussions.
Remodels, significant changes to furniture placement, and any disruption of exisiting
building materials (walls, carpet, tile) must include considerations for ADA requirements,
electrical, plumbing, IT, HVAC, abatement and more. The questions below will help
guide staff through the impact a change to your space may bring.
Large purchases of equipment or changes to existing space use can impact electrical
loads, space planning, and IT needs. As a result, Facilities is included in the review
and approval process for these types of requests.

Are there appropriate electrical circuits available and in the proper locations?
Mechanical Considerations
Does the ventilation need to be altered to accommodate the change or equipment (air
circulation/exhaust)?
Does the equipment require a water supply, piping, compressed air or gas?
Structural Considerations
Is the request structural in nature?
Adding/removing walls?
Does the equipment or furniture need to be erected or attached to the floors/walls
for support?
Asbestos/Lead Abatement
All projects that disturb building materials must be tested for hazardous materials
prior to the project starting. This includes carpets, drywall, and ceiling materials and will be done regardless
of the building age. Note: Testing is a department expense, and is typically $1,000
to $3,000 for small projects.
Approvals
Modernizations and construction over $100 will be charged to the department. Please
identify a funding source and approvals prior to submitting a request. We understand
the need for an estimate before moving forward with a project, but financial discussions
and general approval should take place prior to submitting a request.
If you would like to move forward with an estimate, please complete the form below
and submit to facilities@yosemite.edu.
