Exploration of the history and philosophy of the administration of justice system in America including the intricate workings of the police, the courts and corrections systems. Focus is placed on examining crime measurement, theoretical explanations of crime, responses to crime, punishment, components of the system and the current challenges to the system. Students are introduced to the origins and development of criminal law, legal process and sentencing, incarceration policies and ethics in the administration of justice field. I'm a natural energy motivational speaker, researcher, writer, published author, tenured professor, and avid world traveler. I am honored to be the past recipient of the MJC President's Distinguished Faculty Shining Star Award as well as teaching excellence EOPS Award. In 2018 I was honored with the LIFE Award (Leading, Inspiring, and Fostering Education). In my past professional life, I worked as a reserve police officer, 9-1-1 CAD police dispatcher, police officer, DARE Program Instructor, bicycle patrol officer, Field Training Officer (FTO), K-9 Officer, Tactical Patrol Unit member, Undercover Narcotics Agent and was a graduate of the City of Modesto Leadership Class. During my time in law enforcement, I was awarded the Circle of Excellence, Top Cop, and Innovation Awards and was twice the recipient of the Officer of the Year award for two separate police agencies. I also worked as a police background investigator out of the police chief's office and was promoted to special administrative assignments in the City of Modesto Attorney and City Manager's offices where I served on the city's Public Safety Committee, Budget Committee, and City Manager’s Administrative team.
